Chena was a fun place to stay, but wasn’t my favorite! The rooms were meh with being dated, uncomfortable beds, but they were clean. They didn’t have anything but a coffee pot. All of them seem to be fairly close to the hot springs which is nice. The springs felt great. They offer a lot of activities, but honestly I think you’d find higher quality activities elsewhere. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating for the most part. The restaurant had good food, large portions, but a bit pricey. It’s an hour outside of Fairbanks and is the end of the road with nothing else out there, so plan accordingly. It was a fun experience overall.
Don’t forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoᴄᴏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a room. This site compares hundreds of booking platforms, and generally, the prices are much cheaper than elsewhere! You’ll thank me later! This hotel is one of the best in the area. I’ve been coming here for years, and if you choose to stay, you’ll undoubtedly love it. My family had a fantastic time at Chena! The kids swam every day in the indoor pool, and the ice museum was amazing! The warm springs were a lovely bonus. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful relaxation of the hot water and the soothing sounds of nature. We all can’t wait to return next year!
We had a wonderful time at this restaurant, which truly captured the essence of Alaska. My partner and I opted for the romantic package, which at first seemed a bit pricey, but once we saw everything included, it was well worth it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. We also enjoyed the ice museum, which is definitely a must-see. The hot springs were fantastic, and dining at the restaurant was a delightful experience. Although the rooms were somewhat dated, they were comparable to other accommodations in Fairbanks. My only complaint was that there was only one TV channel available, which happened to be Fox News, but honestly, who needs TV when the views are so breathtaking? Overall, we had an amazing time.
As for the hot spring, I don't understand the hype; it smelled strongly of sulfur and felt just like soaking in hot water. The restaurant experience was mediocre as well. My partner had an apfel martini at the Eismuseum bar, which was a nice touch, but overall, I wasn't particularly impressed. The massage was definitely the highlight of our visit, but I'm left wondering if it's worth the trip or the expense for anything else.
