Chena was a fun place to stay, but wasn’t my favorite! The rooms were meh with being dated, uncomfortable beds, but they were clean. They didn’t have anything but a coffee pot. All of them seem to be fairly close to the hot springs which is nice. The springs felt great. They offer a lot of activities, but honestly I think you’d find higher quality activities elsewhere. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating for the most part. The restaurant had good food, large portions, but a bit pricey. It’s an hour outside of Fairbanks and is the end of the road with nothing else out there, so plan accordingly. It was a fun experience overall.
The restaurant was mediocre. My partner had an Apfel Martini at the Eismuseum bar, which was decent, but overall, I wasn't particularly impressed. The massage was definitely the highlight of the visit, but I'm not convinced that the rest of the experience justifies the trip or the cost.
Be sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoᴄᴏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a room! This website compares hundreds of booking sites, and you’ll often find much lower prices there! Trust me, you’ll thank me later! This hotel is one of the best in the area, and I’ve been coming here for a while. If you choose to stay here, you’re going to love it! My family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Chena. The kids swam every day in the indoor pool, and the ice museum was fantastic! The free hot springs were a lovely bonus. My wife and I relished the peaceful relaxation in the warm water while enjoying the sounds of nature. We all can’t wait to return next year!
We had a wonderful experience that truly captured the essence of Alaska. My partner and I chose the romantic package, which initially seemed pricey, but it ended up being well worth it due to all that was included. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The Ice Museum is definitely a must-see, and of course, the hot springs are amazing. Dining at the restaurant was very satisfying as well. While the rooms are a bit dated, they’re comparable to other places in Fairbanks. My only complaint was that there was only one television channel available, which was Fox News; it would have been nice to have some variety. But honestly, who needs TV when the views are so stunning? Overall, we had a fantastic time!
