Back story... I worked at Rock Creek as a teenager, 20 years ago, it used to be AMAZING and my favorite steak house. I returned for me 42nd birthday on May 18th and we sat in the bar with some friends. The drinks were on point, and we ordered an app of potato skins, then my husband and I shared a dinner; prime rib and lobster. The prim rib was small and overcooked, but nothing compared to the rolled up and chard TINY lobster tail we were served for the low price of $58 It was inedible but we didn't complain because the service was bad enough as it was. The server claimed she was terrible out on the floor because she's normally behind the bar and we waited forever for food, refills on drinks, silverware, etc. It was not busy at all. Maybe 10 people in the bar and the restaurant was nearly empty. So after a bill paid of more than $120 for two of us, we left super disappointed and will probably never return. Do better guys.
It is very dated and dark inside of here. The food is way overpriced, and the service is just adequate. I know there are regulars here, that like to sit at the bar and be seen, or not seen, drinking over priced cocktails. But this is 2024, and the time for dark decor and old fashion pictures and fixtures passed 25 years ago. There are some people who enjoy this atmosphere, but I am not one of them. By looking around, there are people who agree with me. The chairs at the tables are uncomfortable, and the booths are small. The salad bar has few choices, just the cheap stuff. No eggs, seeds, bacon, just lettuce, and a few veggies. The soup de jour, however, split pea when we were there was fantastic!! Big chunks of meat and a yummy consistency! My fish and chips were just frozen things, but fried nicely. My husband's sirloin steak that was supposed to be cooked medium temp was served rare. I could not have eaten it like that! This was the same problem we had on our last visit. This time, I ordered the fish because last time I had shrimp that was not cleaned properly. Eww, nothing as bad as biting into shrimp and crunching on ... ewww... like I said. After a marginal meal, we decided to end with the blackberry crisp. This consisted of a thin layer of mostly berry seeds covered with, idk, some kind of speckled something that looked like wheatina and then baked. The icecream they topped it with was top notch, but i couldn't enjoy the blackberries because I was just eating seeds. Yuck. Our visit was because we received a gift certificate, which was nice, but we certainly don't go there anymore, since nothing there changes except the increase in price. I wish there were more windows to let the light in. Friendlier staff. Better prices. Better cooks. A nicer atmosphere. I really want to enjoy myself here, I really do . But changes need to be made to bring in a younger crowd. The older patrons are only getting older, and this seems to be the target audience.
What a meal! Prime Rib at it's absolute best! I am one of those people who do not like red meat so always order well done. Chefs do not like this at all, believing raw meat tastes better. I have had them come out the kitched mad as heck because I have sent meat back multiple times. They have even delivered it burnt crisp to show their displeasure. Not this one! I was presented with the nost perfect piece of meat I have ever tasted in my 75 years. A well done masterpiece, perfectly cooked, light crisp on the outside, no sign of even a mild pink. A juicy, delicious, 12 ounce piece of tender meat. My dream. They read my mind. My wife's meal was perfect as she wanted it, medium. We were like 2 kids with a big bowl of ice cream.Baked potato was perfect. My mouth is watering as I write this. We both took some of our meat home, Had it for breakfast with fried eggs. Still absolutely delicious. My one little negative is the salad plates are too small. The salad bar is great and you have to pile too high and things get mixed up. That is forgivable when you are overwhelmed with positive.
I used to live in Twin Falls. The good was ALWAYS above the rest. We came in on a Thursday night. Was not very busy. I had prime rib. It was very thin cut. I ordered it med. Rare. It was well done. My husband had steak and shrimp. The steak was full of grissel. Could not even cut one of the larger pieces. We had a party if six. There food was pretty good they said. For almost a $200.00 check, I was very disappointed. Our waitress was very good and on the ball. We did not reorder our food because of a time restraint. I hope we hit an off night because my husband and I were VERY DISAPPOINTED.
