We visited Le Progres this time last year, and returned remembering their very good seafood. Once again, we had excellent and filling three course seafood meals for 22 Euros each. That included a whole cooked crab as a one person starter, which was a meal in...itself. The mussels I ordered arrived in a cold pot, and were only lukewarm. They were quickly replaced by a steaming hot portion when I pointed this out. For mains we had chicken with mushroom and cream sauce and chips, although the salad garnish had seen better days, while my husband had a good, hot pot of moules. Our desserts were apple tart, and sorbet with calvados both good. I think, sadly, perhaps the restaurant has gone very slightly downhill since our visit last year, but I wouldn't say don't go the seafood and fish is delicious, and excellent value. Perhaps just remember you're not paying much for this good value meal, and speak up if you're not happy I'm sure they'd rather replace your meal than upset their clientele.
Visit our restaurant again. Reviewed reviews here and incredible, they are 49 out of ...49! One of the reasons why we moved to France 12 years ago was the quality of food here. There is a handful of restaurants that we think so well that we often deviate a considerable distance to visit a certain favorite, and le Progres is a... and has been for thirty years. No tablecloth and paper kneading could upset some, but otherwise it is really good. Good sizes, nicely cooked, friendly and professional staff. Bread was fresh and very good, a sign for us that a good meal comes. Ignore the campaign of bad reviews, see how busy the place is, and enjoy a really good meal!
First time here in 1992, a 2-week holiday where we eat almost every day in this restaurant. Since then we have made important detours to enjoy another meal. Still the same management, and nice to welcome, despite regrettable...Gips from a few years between visits. The €25 menu is of great value; where else do you see a whole crab (and a good size to it! included among the starters? The next day we have in one of the restaurants among the top five on this site, in Fecamp. The 38 € menu of the restaurant was chosen and proved to be disappointing in some aspects, with the turbot main course free from taste. You should only prove that you should not rely on reviews. To be fair, you can improve the quality of aspects like paper kneaders, but the food and service is what counts, safe! For us only the disadvantage of €14 was calculated for a bottle of Zidre; nice apple wine, but not at the price of a bottle of wine. We can strongly recommend the house Aperitif, which inconspicuously contains a hearty dose of Benedictine.
Good place for lunch, sweet staff, not expensive 22,50 for a lunch menu. All fish products are fresh. Many locals were there for lunch! So bon appetit!
