We have only had a server cook for us once, flipping a few pieces of meat. Despite this, my friends and I come here monthly or bi-monthly for the all-you-can-eat pork belly and beef brisket, as it is the most affordable option in Federal Way. It costs $31-33 per person after tax. My friend always requests the ssam dip, and you have to ask for the sesame oil and salt dip. They provide a bottle of soy sauce dip otherwise. The portion of salad and variety of side dishes are good. You'll definitely leave satisfied! We've always paid at the register for the all-you-can-eat option, but it may be different for dine-in or when they aren't as busy. They only split payments for groups of more than 2. And make sure to grab a free lollipop on your way out. Just be prepared to smell like meat when you leave.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant, although I have had Korean BBQ before. The decor could use some updating and cleaning, and the staff could benefit from some customer service training. The most important aspect, however, is the food. I do not believe it is the best Korean BBQ in Federal Way, and the way they set up the meal is not ideal. Customers cannot choose which meats they receive initially - they simply bring frozen beef and dump it onto the grill, followed by a mix of different types of meat. The fact that the pork and beef touch each other is off-putting. Unfortunately, there is no way to request a specific meat or decline the ones you do not want. I would give this place a solid two stars. At $39.99 per person, the quality of the experience and food does not justify the price. I do not recommend this restaurant. There are much better Korean BBQ options nearby.
We had a choice between dumplings and fried chicken or a hearty meat feast, and we decided to go for the meat on a recent Sunday. We arrived promptly at 11:00 am and ordered the $49 set menu as we wanted more variety than the basic two-meat option. The server quickly brought out trays of meat and an array of banchan (side dishes). It took a while for the meat to cook, but once it was sizzling on the grill, we had trouble keeping up with eating it all so we had to transfer the cooked pieces to a small plate. The meal also included a bowl of rice and a serving of tofu soup. We ordered more pork belly and short ribs, and when the grill started to get a bit charred, the server promptly replaced it. Although $57 may seem a bit pricey for lunch, we left feeling satisfied with our meal.
Now that we no longer have to just order delivery, we been back a few times. A few months ago, I took a bunch of my friends who've never been or ever had kbbq. It was a new experience for them. Everyone loved it, and all want to come back. Yesterday was the first time I went with my hubby since lockdown. Food is great as always. We always order AYCE #B. So happy we were able to just walk in with no wait. Service was fast, and great as usual. Only thing I'm wondering is I haven't seen the older lady or older man(owners? usually working the check in or checkout desk. Hope they're ok! Place was clean, restrooms clean also. So glad this place made it through the pandemic, and didn't close down like some of our favorite dining establishments. Will be back soon!
I've been to a few BBQ places in Federal Way and never knew that Shin Sung was just around the corner. Thanks to a friend who recommended this place, I was able to try something new. The quality of meat was great! My friends and I got the pork belly and brisket and they were delicious! The pork belly was the right size and didn't need to be cut. Our servers were attentive and continually checked up on us and refilled our water. The restaurant is smaller than others that I've been to, but it was okay. The smoke from the BBQ didn't linger as the exhaust was actually working. Overall we had a great experience and will be back!
