Shanghai 1930 Mr Dus Kitchen

Just been there for dinner and can't wait to post a review in here, honestly this is the worst place we have ever been to. In the early day when we book for a table, we thought they are a shanghai style Chinese cuisine restaurant, but when we sit in the restaurant and after looking their menu, we got totally confused, there are only few choices from entree and dessert, and only 6 mains on their menu. Ok, lets try their food, maybe their food are quite special. We ordered 5 entrees and 5 mains, two beer and three juices, by the time we were waiting for our food, we realized they have only one waitress and one cook working in the night, luckily we were the only table in the whole restaurant on a sat evening at 6:30pm. The place looks more likely a fine dining place with shanghai style wall decorations. Looks nice but not cosy. The background music was from the radio. Here comes our food, entrees: deep fried prawn: taste ok, looks very cheap. squid rings: only taste of batter, but barely the squid. chicken: looks like deep fried chicken breast, taste very dry. Beef Tataki: not juicy and only 6 pieces. Soft shell crabs: very small potion and deep fried with no other interesting taste. All their entrees are price over $12. 5 mains are even worse, every dish came with 3 types of vegetable: broccoli, cauliflower and potato. Steak over cooked, lamb rack were just ok, fish of the day worse than any takeaway shop, prawns were very low grade looks like from the supermarket no more than $10 a kg and frozen. Chicken is the killer, two pieces of chicken thighs with skin and bone on, taste old and dry. The cost of their dish are no more than $5 but they charged us $218, what a great place to go if you hate someone! Definitely a one time visit!

Went for dinner last nite. Was very quite. Only two tables were taken. Layout was great. Waitress didn't know much about the menu and food. Food tasted okay but the size of mains were shocking. It was more like entree. Mains average around $32 and not worth for the price. I had to come home and eat left overs to fill myself. I won't recommend this place if you are hungry.

Service here is terrible. We waited for a very very long time for our orders. So long we asked for glass of water to fill in the waiting time and still had to wait because the waiter forgot. Finally a waitress brought the water and dropped it spilling all over the table. The food was appalling. mushrooms didn't taste like mushrooms. Tofu too hard it was hard to cut through. Everything ordered was a disaster and tasted terrible. The kitchen staff we could see about 3-4 of them) were very very slow and we were one of only 2 tables seated. The rest of the place was empty no surprises). We definitely won't be back. Every guest we had at the table was not happy with the food and the service.
