It was the other staff and the patrons that I was confused about. It seemed they must have been pretty racist, as my friend and I are both children of immigrants, so we aren’t the typical “white folk” that they’re probably used to seeing. Older white women, that’s all I can think of when I think back to my experience there. Multiple older white women staffing the place were staring at us as if we were aliens, as well as several of the patrons that were there. We were not making much noise, as it was just the two of us. We weren’t even speaking to each other all that much, we were just quietly enjoying our food. It was a huge turn off and I probably won’t be going there again as there are many other decent brunch places in the area that are comparable. Dietary restrictions: Pretty much everything on the breakfast menu had pork in it. I do not eat pork so it was hard to choose an entree. Pork is disgusting and shouldn’t be eaten by humans, it’s the most vile meat that exists within today’s agriculture world. Pigs eat their own feces, trash, maggots, and pretty much everything they can fit in their mouth.
Went to a baby shower there today. Food and service were outstanding. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
On March 19th, we tried the lobster bisque which was not hot enough and lacked sufficient lobster meat. However, the Madeline's Salad with grilled chicken was a generous portion, fresh, and well-seasoned. We appreciated the prompt service as we had a meeting to rush to. The waitress had a great attitude and attended to us efficiently. The warmth of the fireplace near our booth added a nice touch. On April 24th, we enjoyed the shaved parmesan cheese added to Madeline's Salad. There was an issue with being overcharged for the chicken breast added to our salads, but it was promptly resolved. We ordered a pizza with margherita on one side and pepperoni on the other; the margherita side was satisfactory. Despite wanting to enjoy the nice weather in the outdoor seating, the manager refused to reopen the patio. The total bill for one pizza, two salads, and two iced teas came to $60, which we felt was quite overpriced.
I recently attended my sister's baby shower at this restaurant, and unfortunately, the person in charge was not very kind. Our experience working with Nadine was not great. Despite being American-born, she treated us as if we were from another planet. It was disappointing to end up at this location when there are many other welcoming restaurants in the valley. We had high expectations, but after dealing with the owner, we were left unsatisfied. Customers should always be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when a large group is dining at the restaurant. We do not recommend this location and hope for better customer experiences in the future for all.
I recently went to Madeline's for brunch and had a very unpleasant experience. My friends had organized a surprise baby shower for me, but we were extremely disappointed with the service we received. The food was average and the staff was rude and showed signs of racism. Despite seeing other large groups being well taken care of in the same area, our predominantly female minority group was ignored. I felt discriminated against and will not be returning to this restaurant. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. I gave them a second chance, but was met with the same poor service. I contacted the manager, who offered a forced apology and tried to blame our group for requesting special treatment, which was not true. As paying customers, we should not have been left to pour our own coffee and receive no drink refills. The staff's demeanor was unprofessional and completely ruined our experience. Additionally, there was a significant fly issue in the outdoor seating area. I do not recommend this restaurant. I may have had the opportunity to host holiday dinners here, but I will be taking my family, business associates, and large parties elsewhere. There are plenty of better and less discriminatory establishments in the area.
