I always struggle to find good Thai food in Germany which strike the balance between authentic Thai and Thai food adjusted to the German palate. I completely get the need for the adjustment but I sometimes want to find clear strong authentic flavours when I...am feeling in the mood for Thai. Suvadee is a good option for Thai food in the centre of Frankfurt. It has a wide menu and some of the dishes which I saw past me looked rather authentic. I had a traditional seafood soup noodles (which I expect very few clients would have ordered) which was very good – well-made and authentic. They also had the essential spice tray which you can use to adjust to your personal tastes with sugar, dried chili, spicy vinegar and spicy fish sauce. My friend had a noodles dish which was tasty along with a chicken breast cutlet which looked well made although not too traditionally Thai. We arrived for lunch and the place was busy and seemed very popular with the locals. The service was friendly and the order came out not too long afterwards considering the full dining room, and we asked for all courses to be served at one. Seating outside was bright and enjoyable although could be cold on cooler days. A spring day in Frankfurt was no problem to be outside as you were shielded from the elements by the atrium roof. Waitstaff were constantly in and out so it was easy to get attention for service. I will certainly come back again and try some other dishes to see if they stand up to my Thai palate but for a preliminary visit – it was good.
...and yes, you don’t have too many great AND original Thai restaurants here...but this one is absolutely amazing. All the food was fantastic. The green papaya salad with king prawns great. The satee skews...great. And the chicken with curry and coconut creme to...die for. No space for dessert, tho.
Was not long in the suvadee. with a friend for a quick lunch. for starters we had suppe, for the main course I had hunch with basilikum etc. my friend had duck. all the meals were good too salty and hardly contained fresh ingredients.
I came to my office after frankfurt, my colleagues brought me to lunch here. as far as I remember when I was in Thailand, eating is not the same, but it is a good compromise that corresponds to the western...taste service, is good and price even better. if they don't want thick food and a real alternative maybe even healthy) they come here!
