Lavena's Catch Cafe - Freeport

Out of all the meals I had during our week-long road trip along Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy, this was my favorite and also my favorite seafood dinner.

My family and I have been frequenting Lavena's for almost two decades, ever since they first opened up in the summer.

There are rare occasions in life when everything just falls into place, and tonight was one of those moments. We were hesitant about our dining options in Digby.

We stopped at Lavena's for a coffee and stayed for one of the best lunches we've had in a while. The Solomon Gundy appetizer was a full course salad. The menu was quite extensive and the service fast and friendly. This was a wonderful find and is easily a destination all on its own.

After 3 days in the Digby area and dining a quite an assortment of restaurants, we finally found an amazing restaurant that not only offers a true east coast experience, they also offer a variety of fresh seafood options and vegetables/salads! Like many others I do enjoy fish and chips but not every day. So many restaurants neglect the importance of offering fresh veggies and salads that are more than basics. Lavena's assortment was fantastic! If in the Digby or Briar Island area be sure to eat here! But be sure to get there early or make a reservation, it is a very popular spot. Service and food took a tiny bit longer because they were so busy, but it was totally worth the wait! If going to Briar Island I would get take out from here unless you want fish and chips or various other fried foods as that is pretty much what you will get at the one restaurant on Briar Island for lunch. My only regret is that we were not in the area for dinner, I am sure it would have been awesome!
