I have eaten in la montanara for half a dozen times in the last few years. it is an authentic Italian pizzeria in a small German city. the first time I had a Hawaiian pizza and enjoyed it. but only when I was introduced, I fell in love with pizza salmone. if they like salmon, this is a fabulous, unique pizza (which I have never found otherwise - even in the many restaurants I have eaten in italy) that combines the cheese, salmon and a kind of white cream for an unforgettable taste that returns to me for more. pizza salmone is pizza with pizzazz in my book. the restaurant is very small. I even sit on a table where the patrons are already sitting and eating, sharing the table with strangers, as there was no other place (not completely unusual in Europe.) I discovered this summer that there is a beautiful sitting area outside behind the restaurant that hosts more people in good weather.
What I liked at this place was the building and friendly staff, which I did not like was the trip advisor reviews for the place. friedrichsdorf is a very small place and very few people who rate the venues on trip advisor; just like two people who had eaten and rated it and excellent at this trip advisor claims it was the best restaurant in friedrichsdorf; what it was not. the pizza looked nothing like I expected that a steing-baked fresh pizza would look and how more the beats saw as if they were coming out of doses. Finally, all night I have gassed on water, which says aditive and many of it.
What a great fund in a small town! great pizzas the real price and although the restaurant is very small and a little rugged when full, the quality of pizzas is worth it. the Italian cook prepare and schovel her pizza in the shoulder height stone heart in the kitchen. that is not a silver service restaurant await you just a little wait, a little rustic charm and the hostess/owners? is friendly when the ice is broken. they were there twice, but haven't seen the cook yet, maybe on a future trip? he was busy though: molto molto buono!
This restaurant offers some really delicious pizzas at very reasonable prices. There was also plenty of choice on the menu. However, with our children we felt as if we were interrupting a little. The restaurant is small but cosy. I would return but without the...kids.
