Pizzaria Italiana Xarambhina - Funchal

In a nice square in the old town, with pleasant and enthusiastic staff, but doesn't live up to expectations. My pizza was fair only, being let down by far too much cheese overwhelming the thin and rather tasteless layer of passata. The seafood pasta was surprisingly bland due to a sauce which featured a lot of cream and not much else. Not the worst meal we've ever had but distinctly below average.

We ate here 3 times during our recent visit to Madeira. Great food and service. Really can’t fault it. If you are planning on eating here then book a table or be disappointed. All tables were generally full by 7pm and if you hadn’t booked you queued or went elsewhere.

We have eaten out every night of our stay here in Funchal. This pizzeria is excellent for sharing a pizza and a good bottle of Portuguese wine. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly.
