Situated next to the bus stops on Piazza Manin, we noticed that it was doing a brisk trade on a weds lunchtime so took a closer look. It was advertising two courses plus wine or water and coffee for €10. We liked the look of the simple and short menu, and we're not disappointed. We like this style of trattoria it seems to attract locals, and we expect many on a work lunch break, who know where the best value places are. We had linguine al pesto and pasta with acciughe and capperi excellent. Then we both had the coniglio, given a good review by the friendly waiter. It was really good, cooked Ligurian style with olives, and pine nuts. I had tiramisu too, which was also home made and very good. With pleasant outdoor seating in a side yard under sunshades, this was a real treat.
Mi sono completamente perso e sono finito in questa trattoria. Pesto con pinoli, linguine fatte in casa e cozze, per finire una torta al cocco fatta in casa e grappa. Delizioso e tutti mi hanno aiutato a prendere il bus giusto. Cibo meraviglioso, belle persone.
... In Genova, on the way to the coast. We planned a stop, but because of the impossibility to park in the city centre, we decide to carry on... When suddenly, in the outskirts of Genova we spot a luminous sign: pizzeria. We manage to park, go back to the square, and don't find the sign anymore. They have switched it off, they are about to close... But the lights inside are still on and we dare going in. We ask if they still have food, and the owner takes pity (despite a few ironic comments). They set up a table for the 4 of us and we order some house wine, 3 pizzas and some calamari. We must have been hungry, but that was the best pizza in a long time for all of us, and the calamari were also delicious. A very simple place, a grumpy owner (but who can blame him, he was closing), some good food and wine and very reasonable prices. Thumbs up.
Stumbled on this place one hot Sunday lunchtime, everything else in the vicinity was closed. Great minestrone, quality veal steak, fries, 1/4 litre of red wine, mineral water, espresso. 21 Euros. It really was very good. Highly recommended.
