Taverna Poseidon - Gortyn

The staff is very nice and attentive. A young man on the staff speaks perfect German. He also told us that he sometimes butchers the meat himself and that all the ingredients come from the local region, whether meat or vegetables. The tavern was always kept very clean, even during the day there was some cleaning. In November this was the only tavern still open in Lentas. The winter menu was in four languages and with a good selection of Greek dishes. The prices are cheap. I once spilled my glass of wine through my own fault, had it cleaned up and cleaned immediately and even received a new glass of wine even though it was actually my fault. We had various dishes such as minced meat in tomato sauce, lamb chops, grilled plates, grilled chicken pieces, omelet, everything tasted very, very good. We have rarely had such delicious grilled chicken and rarely such delicious grilled lamb chops. The portions were sometimes so huge that we took meat with us for the next day because we couldn't make it. After the meal there was always one or more rakis on the house. You can say that we had the best Greek food here on our 3-month Crete tour. Some free parking spaces were available in November. The parking situation is definitely difficult in summer.

Now, at the end of the season, there are only canteens here: few, prefabricated dishes, repetitions. The waiter is very friendly, the host snorkeling and unfriendly. You have the feeling not to be welcome as tourists. In addition, all other restaurants have closed far and wide, except Porta Lenta, which proves to be superb. Service: Dine in

Good food here and clear explanations about the daily specials that you can also view. Very friendly people who are very attentive. The Raki we got on the house was definitely the best we drank on the island!
