Dashwood Arms - Gosford, Kidlington

The room itself was clean and large. No reception or contact after hours unfortunately. I had to check in after midnight, and was directed to a lockbox. However It’s -1 outside and the heat is not working at all, and I have no one to contact. Not a good choice if you need a late check-in.

Fantastic atmosphere, family friendly country pub with great food and incredible service. Lovely atmosphere both inside and out in the garden, would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed evening out. Service: 5 Location: 5

Friendly landlord who kept the bar open when he was wishing to close for the afternoon, just to let us have a drink in the pleasant sunny (then) garden. Lovely village to wander around.

Really lovely place. Very homely, with 2 dogs that are really cute and friendly.

However, when we went upstairs to our room (Room 6), we were disappointed. It was one of the worst rooms we’ve stayed in. The room was very small and had a tiny window that needed a good cleaning. The carpet was quite soiled, and there were no toiletries in the bathroom. We found a two-pint bottle of UHT milk, but unfortunately, there was no fridge to keep it in, making it pointless to open. There were no coffee sachets, just four tea bags, and luckily, I had brought my own supplies. Unlike our parents’ room, which had lovely shortbread cookies, we didn’t get any biscuits. We were provided with two bottles of water but no glasses. The breakfast provided for the two of us over two days consisted of three apples, one banana, one satsuma, one croissant, two twisted pastries, and one muffin. We were unsure how fresh these items were, so we didn’t eat them. Thankfully, we found a lovely little café, The Milk Shed, just a five-minute drive away, where we had breakfast. At the moment, we’re unsure how much the two rooms cost, as our niece booked them and is away on her honeymoon, unaware of how disappointing our stay was. Overall, it was an awful experience!
