Stopped here while riding the Transamerica bike route. Had a great breakfast sandwich and chat with the owner. Much needed sustenance for a stretch of road without many resources. She mentioned they do let cyclists stay in the field behind the store, but only if they’re around so definitely check in with them before pitching your tent.
Quaint old place, great berry cobbler finishes off a buffalo burger lunch! Just want to give an update as of July 2024. Ownership has changed at Austin House but it remains a great place to stop for great food and deserts. Berry cobbler is still a favorite. Great soup. And I usually get an order of bread pudding to go as it saves well and is very good.
Stopped in for lunch and was so impressed by everything! LOVE that the food is actually homemade, the tri-tip in the sandwich is so tasty and the pie was fantastic! The atmosphere feels so cozy and inviting and the outside seating is really nice. Mindy was so friendly and getting to hear the history about the area and the building was really neat! I'll def be stopping in next time I'm out there!
Everything on the menu is prepared with care and flavor in mind. The hosts are attentive and friendly. Even if it was in the heart of a city I would seek this lone ranger restaurant out for any meal. Do not leave without a piece of German Chocolate or huckleberry pie, it pairs perfectly with the handmade milkshake alongside a tri tip sandwich.
