I recently used a voucher for dinner at Masaya, where my companion and I enjoyed a delicious seafood platter for two. The restaurant is located in the Stones Corner food strip near Aldi, and we had the pleasure of sitting outside on a warm evening. It's worth noting that Masaya operates on a BYO policy with a $3.00 corkage fee per person.
My husband and I had fish and chips here one evening. The fish was fine but the chips were the worst I'd had in Brisbane. They were very plain and really no better than frozen chips I make at home. There were other people there getting elaborate fish dinners and enjoying their own BYO wine, so perhaps other offerings are better. I wouldn't go there again.
We had a very reasonably priced hot and cold seafood platter. Have been here several times and the seafood is always delicious. Basic cafe setting with BYO option. Great for a casual dinner out.
I ordered the seafood hot & cold banquet for two and decided to have it as a takeaway. There is seating in the front of this place and it did have diners when I went to collect the food, but obviously I cannot comment on the dining-in experience. The meal was enormous and well cooked. The cold prawns, oysters & salad were devoured very quickly, while the hot calamari and fish [they use panko which is a much better option], and chips were equally enjoyed. As with most places, way too many chips but that's just a personal choice.
