It's had good reviews in the past, including in the Green Chain Walk guide, but I'm wondering whether there's been a change of ownership? Obviously, I can't rate it properly at the moment.
What a welcome sight as we walked the Green Chain Way from Thames Barrier Mottingham and the food and cafe did not disappoint. The number of visitors showed we weren’t the only ones who appreciated this cafe many of the visitors appeared to be locals returning to a favourite haunt.
Great location with lovely views. Good food with lots of choice and friendly service, makes you feel quite at home. I was there with a friend who is a wheelchair user, she loved it as the cafe was easily accessible with disabled toilets available. With the paths she was able to go a little way into the woods which she hasn’t been able to do so for years. Will definitely be returning.
Oxleas Cafe is a great little spot to stop off at during a walk through beautiful Oxleas Woods to take in the views and the fresh air. The service is efficient and friendly, and whilst my veggie breakfast arrived quickly, the food was disappointing. My decaf coffee was exceptionally bitter, and the toast was hard and overdone. Instead of the potato and veg mix sausages, I’d love to see the cafe include a ‘proper’ Quorn style veggie sausage as the breakfast already comes with two big hash browns so there’s a potato overload. Some higher quality products would be very welcome and would make a huge difference. Overall, it’s a good spot but I’d probably give the food a miss unless you’re just having something like tea and cake
Excellent service and food. Hardworking staff, efficient and friendly at such a busy time. I visited with the Ramblers today, after a short walk through the woods. Wonderful I live local so to find somewhere so friendly, popular and efficient, with an effective team of staff on such a hot day too, is a gift (and a huge relief). Thanks to all.
