I visited the restaurant today and was disappointed to find a limited selection of unfamiliar Indian dishes. The food was terrible. My friend ordered the fish and chips and was also unimpressed.
The curry is superb, the restaurant is conveniently located, and the decor is lovely.
Always closed. apparently the new owners have no interest in opening any time soon. They also own the bar next door, it is closed also. These businesses appear to no longer be in operation.
So. We went to the Pacific Grill as a family with two kids, almost-3 and almost-7. We love heritage buildings and drive through Greenwood reasonably often, so we thought we'd give this place a try. The dining room was pretty empty when we were there so we thought it would be a place for a quick hot dinner. We were a little taken aback by prices, especially for small kid's meals, but whatever. Needs must. We picked a back table so as not to disturb other diners. First issue was the server seemed really, really distant. She actually seemed quite displeased that we were there with kids. She took forever to get our order, but finally she took it and we waited for the simple food we had ordered. And waited. And waited. The kids got pretty fractious, I confess, but we still waited. When we flagged down the waitress to ask about how long it would be, she was apologetic...ish... and offered to bring out something to snack on while we waited. She brought out -- get this -- CALAMARI. For two little kids! Deep fried squid -- ah, no. It was bizarre. I can only assume it was made in error and pawned off on us. We would have walked out but we were starving. It took the waitress over half an hour before she even brought crayons and paper. When the food came, over 50 minutes after it was ordered (and the restaurant was hardly hopping), it was extremely meh. Nothing exciting at all. We eat ethnic foods frequently in Vancouver and this was nothing to write home about. Some things tasted as if they came straight from a sauce packet. When we finally got the bill, we were appalled. The value was not there for us at all considering that the service, the food, and the delay were all just bad and the calamari was just bizarre. We will never go back and we were so disappointed. Even now I'm just in disbelief at how weird it was. I'll note as well since I've read other reviews that it seems likely that the 'PR' rep will come in and insist that I have facts wrong and that the review isn't legit etc. but I assure you it is and it really was that strange. Calamari! I can LOL now but at the time I almost cried, sitting there forever with two starving little kids.
