Great food and Amy was a great server. She was friendly and polite. Checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Energetic and she was a delight to have Asa server.
Relaxed atmosphere with very friendly service. Small business run by family who cooks homemade delicious meals.
All I can say is WOW and come on an empty stomach. The potato soup that comes before the meal is amazing. Large portions and cooked great. And then the staff. They are super friendly and top notch.. highly recommend this hidden little gem.
To start our meal, we enjoyed a delicious homemade potato soup and freshly baked bread. On that particular Sunday, the special was all-you-can-eat roasted chicken, which caught my eye as I saw a plate being served at another table. I couldn't resist! The chicken was cooked to perfection, golden brown with a light, crispy batter and served piping hot, without any hint of greasiness. I typically prefer dark meat when it comes to fried chicken, but the breast meat was just as tender and juicy as the thighs and drumsticks. To complement the meal, I had a serving of Dennie fries (homemade potato wedges), a fresh salad, and a large cup of coffee. All of this made for a fabulous Sunday dinner for about $14. I even requested an extra thigh for dessert, and the waitress surprised me by bringing two! She jokingly asked if I wanted to make a cheesecake with them. It was all in good fun, and I appreciated the friendly banter. Overall, it was just a fantastic country meal. If you find yourself on the west side of Des Moines, instead of heading to Cracker Barrel, drive another 15-20 minutes to The Corn Patch. You won’t regret it!
