Alpenrose Lakeside Bistro & Bar

If you're staying in one of the chalets, as we were, I suggest you dine in town, or buy supplies to prepare for yourself. The restaurant is a draughty barn and the pizzas leave a lot to be desired.

We were staying at the hotel and went here for dinner ...i am sick to death of eating such stupid food ..pumkin soup with a roll ...not a home baked bread but one of those heat at home things from wollies except it was cold..and no butter ! By the time o had finished seasoning my soup i may well have cooked it myself...then it was " sticky and tender baby pork ribs " omg can you not even get this right so you have preboiled the ribs ahead of time to get them tender okay i get that but then to microwave them and stick a gallon of some ugly prebrought sauce on the top and call them marinated in the chefs special sauce .Not on chef not on at all. Even the sour cream was the cheapest of the worse. We tried to tell the waitress what a nasty meal you had served she was not intrested....yuck we will never eat there for dinner again .

I stayed at the Tamar Valley resort and decided to have dinner at the Alpenrose. The staff were friendly and the food very nice. The meal came quickly, was well presented and tasted delicious. The decor could do with a spruce up, quite dark inside. Maybe a fresh coat of paint in a lighter colour would bring a better atmosphere to the place.Overall it was a pleasant meal.

Just my Mum and myself today going for a Sunday drive and we decided on having lunch here and what a great choice. We both had the hamburger and WOW, so much flavour and one of the best, juiciest hamburgers I have had in quite a while and when it arrived I did think I could not eat it all, along with the hot crunchy chips but I did.The staff were lovely and we watched as they greeted everyone with a smile, well done.

Breakfast is fairly varied and good, but nighttime is very cosy and the menu fairly extensive,good size portions and all our choices were delicious.All that with great service leads to a lovely experience.We ate there 3 days morning and night,and missed it after moving on.
