What we actually found out, is that it is an pretentious bar, selling expensive rum tasters and cocktails which flattered to impress for the price. After looking forward to this experience for quite a while, we were left even more disappointed when we were informed that the kitchen was closed and that we would not be able to same the cheese selection. Wanting to share a tasting selection with my partner before deciding which rum we would like to drink after, the experience was ruined when we asked our waiter if it would be at least possible to have an addition chocolate rather than attempting to share one mini sample between two. We were informed that we could, but for an additional 10q. At that moment, the trip was experience was ruined. It seems the company has no interest in pleasing it's clientele. To make matters worse, the outdoor seating area stank of sewage. Avoid with a barge pole! You'd be better off buying a bottle of rum from a local tienda and sitting outside on the street corner for a more enjoyable experience.
We stopped by to check the place while we were walking around Antigua. I'm from NYC and the coktails here are definetely superb, We had the black berry mule and mojitos. Sadly, the service was slow and it's quite expensive. We didnt eat bc we wait 25/30mins for one drink. The inside seating area looks elegant and comfy but was busy with a group of people (maybe 10ppl) and to seat at the courtyard was a bad option for someone that have been walking around town a couple of hours. If you seat in the inside area +quick service worth the price. They should work in another cozy area with nice seating. People usually walk all day over cobble stone streets, and want a nice break in nice seating.
The underground bar provides you a colonial environment to get your favorite Zacapa bavarage
High end for sure but best cocktail bar in Guatemala. We paid 70 qtz or so per cocktail which comes out to less than $10 so not bad relatively speaking but locally that’s really expensive. But they were more than worth it. I had a smoked Rum Manhattan which I’ll definitely come back for next time I’m in Antigua.
What to say, simply perfection. Come here to have an authentic ron experience, with around 30 dollars you csm get the full zacapa tasting menu, 23, xo, and dark. The staff is well trained and will help you with the degustation. The building, from what I understand is an old hospital, the interior design is great, but not really dinner friendly, the place is more like a lounge than a restaurant, pity, cause the food was also amazing. If u are in Antigua and you love el Ron, you must come here.
