Wilbur's Cafe Bar - HACKETT

We've heard good things about Wilbur's cafe from friend and went hoping for a relaxing evening with great food. We were pleasantly surprised by cake display upon our arrival but thing didn't improve from there ..... the service was slow, inattentive and made us feel like we were demanding when I went to the counter to request a couple of drinks after waiting for 15 minutes for service (no dramas if the place was humming but it was reasonably quiet!) ... the mine was predominantly pub fair so I thought I couldn't go past a classic 'parmy' ... it came out burnt and dry ... the pizza was okay but not worth a second trip back to try again ....

I went to Wilbur's this morning with friends. Overall, the experience was average - nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding either (except for the thickshake!). I ordered my usual eggs with sides. The eggs were good but needed more seasoning. The hollandaise was tasty, but I prefer it more lemony. The chorizo was surprisingly spicy. The bread had a nice texture but was slightly under-toasted. Both the chorizo and bacon were slightly burnt on the edges but slightly undercooked. The coffee was alright, but just okay. The highlight was the thickshake, which was actually thick and required effort to drink through the straw - delicious! Two of my friends ordered dishes with poached eggs that were cooked perfectly. The indoor decor was plain and unappealing, so I would prefer to sit outside next time to enjoy the sun and people-watch.

A wide range of excellent food from this friendly local cafe. I always enjoyed the specials, especially the rib eyes done in a wide range of creative ways. A little pricey for a cafe, but the quality justifies it.

Had some great cider and beer at Wilbur's before heading out to dinner at Siam Twist opposite. Lived the cider and beer on tap and will definitely be back to try the food because the smells coming from the kitchen were so good!

Egg and bacon Roll was lack lustre and very overpriced.A waste of time and money. Egg was burned Small piece of bacon and bread roll was stale Nine dollars for this is over priced Wilburs needs to lift its game
