The chicken was dry, the avocado was brown, and the croissant was slightly overcooked. Despite avocado and croissants being easy to ruin, the dry chicken overshadowed everything. On the bright side, I ordered a cherry custard strudel for dessert and it was amazing. The cherry filling was delicious and not overly sweet. The pastry was perfectly balanced with the filling, and the vanilla cream was a nice touch. The waitstaff in the dining area were friendly and helpful. However, the front counter seemed chaotic and disorganized, which left a negative impression. The Manager appeared to be doing his best but may benefit from delegating tasks and not trying to control every aspect of the restaurant. Overall, I recommend enjoying the traditional German food at this restaurant and not worrying about the minor issues.
This is the truest German shop in hanhdorf. Have a joke with the cranky German and taste his beautiful meals and pastries. Well worth a visit and it’s old works charm took me back to Düsseldorf. Love it

So it’s a kinda daggy, old fashioned type place. But sometimes if you want the authentic, honest food then this is how it comes. I love this bakery, great pastries and breads. I’ve not eaten here, not had coffee as I suspect it would disappoint. The owner may seem a little gruff but I’ve had many a chat with him about current affairs and whatnot, I guess I also like it when you get a good human interaction like that in a small village. <br/ <br/ For us the star is, are, the strudels. We ate far too many in our first years in the Hills, we also would take one interstate for people who don’t have such amazing bakeries *coughbrisbanesydney* at first we stayed safe with the apple and poppy but the winner is the sour cherry. We had a brunch here as we look cozy from outside. When we came in we looked a delicious pastries inside the pastry case. We decided to order sausage roll, meat pasty, ham and cheese omelette and blackforest cake, coffee mocha. All were nice, can't complaint. Is just the service wasn't good enough. The oldman which I reckon the owner wasn't smile and rigid, lack of customer service. The cafe looks pretty, lots of antique stall and stuff. It's nice to hangout and have a chat with friends, family or your partner here as the ambiance is nice.
