Not only the best burger they find everywhere, but only so consistent and for decades. I could never blame kau aina in haleiwa.

We stopped for lunch twice because of the quality, service and freshness of all the food. The ahi and Mahi on on a sandwich or salad were both fresh and perfect. The salad was crisp and came with homemade balsamic. The teens ate burgers and were licking their fingers and wanting more fries.
Let me say that I have literally been going here every time I’m in Hawaii, for over 30 years. Burgers were juicy and tasty, fries were great. Service was quick and responsive. When they opened in Honolulu (since closed), it was also a regular visit. My go-to burger place. Which is why it makes me sad to give a Poor rating. But I have no choice. I ordered the 1/2 pound cheeseburger, medium rare. I was there at 7pm on a Sunday night, the place was nearly empty. It took literally almost a half hour (call it 25 minutes). The burger was literally tough. I don’t know how a burger can be tough and chewy, but it was. Also tasteless. And not medium rare, more like medium well. The fries were nice, but literally the smallest portion I have ever seen. They wouldn’t have covered the palm of your hand. The little paper bag was maybe 1/3 full. Like that was all they had left or something. Did I complain? No. The burger was so bad, the service so slow, that the minuscule fries were the least of the problems. This place always served tourists, but the quality was great. But now, it’s like nobody cares that much, just churn it out. I hate to give a bad rating during the pandemic, but I drove 90 minutes round trip and paid almost $17. And it wasn’t good. Sorry, but if this is what I can expect, I won’t be back. When you can get a more flavorful burger at McDonalds, you need to re-focus. Very sad and disappointed.
