Etrusker - Hamburg

Etrusker has been around for many years and is usually full in the evening. We have eaten there about 20 times, and return for the reasonable prices and the friendly, informal atmosphere in an attractive small dining room. It has to be said that the food quality is variable, maybe depending on who is cooking, but we have never had an unacceptable dish. Pizza is good value at around €7, with about a dozen varieties, cooked with a thin crust and good tomato sauce. As it's a small kitchen and most things are cooked to order there might be a wait a busy times. There are a few wines: Indio, a Montepulciano is a good match to the food. Friendly service, and they are willing to adapt dishes.

Really good Italian food. Very noisy and tables very close together. Much noise. Staff very helpful. They do not take credit cards only local debit cards so tourists must pay cash.

This lovely Italian restaurant was my regular haunt in the eighties, when I read English at Hamburg University. When I went there again after many years, apparently nothing had changed: All my favourite dishes on the menu, perfect antipasti, delicious homemade bread and good wine by the glass. I can only recommend the salmon fillet in basil sauce because it is really sumptuous. Even the side salad is excellent.

The food is great. Luisa is the best. It feels like you're eating in the kitchen of an Italian family. Feels like home every time. The 'Pimento de Patron" is an absolute must for hors d'oeuvres! Can't wait to go back!
