Three Bean Espresso Apothecary Kitchen

Visited here mid morning after reading all the great reviews and we had a delicious brunch from what was available in the crossover period between breakfast and lunch. The frittata I had was creamy and delicious and the salads were very fresh. The food was also pretty good value as we were both super full afterwards. At first it seems kinda annoying they don't have a menu and you cannot have breakfast all day/need to wait for lunch to be ready, however the quality of the food makes up for it and I can see they are trying to differentiate themselves from other cafes by focusing on a few, seasonal dishes rather than an extensive menu that stays the same. We'll be back when we're next in Newcastle.

This place used to be the 3 Bean and was one of the best in Newcastle. Now it’s the Apothecary Kitchen and is one of the worst. Gone is the table service and the tasty menu. It’s been replaced by that barbaric method of ordering at the counter and paying first and the breakfast menu is totally unappealing. You can’t even get poached eggs ! The coffee was tepid and tasteless. Fortunately there are many better places in Beaumont Street

Our 2 coffees were barely warm and the small hot chocolate the same and poor value ..the size of a baby chino..very disappointing. We ahould have complained but our daughter paid for us and we didnt want to embarrass her. There is no excuse for being served sub standard beverages.

We chose to have breakfast here as it is normally good and the coffee good as well. What a disappointment to turn up to dirty tables, water from the jug was hit and glasses were not clean. Then coffee arrives and it was not hot. Choose the eggs benedict for breakfast and egg yolks were overdone yet the whites were like water. The fancy ham tastes terrible and was thick and ugly looking, doubt it had been kept properly. $50 for two !! My partner and I have been feeling sick in the stomach for the rest of the day. Won't be recommending it returning
