Johnel's - Hammond

Well the only problem I really had with this place is that they charge $3 for a cup of coffee, they charge $2.50 for an extra egg I spent $60 on breakfast for me and my mom the other day. That's ridiculous I had steak and eggs and added an egg and it was an exit $2.50 The chocolate milk was almost $5 that I ordered I mean come on we're not downtown so big thumbs down I used to like this place The waitress was awesome by the way not her fault

Johnel's provides consistently great food at the hands of an attentive staff, both dine in or to go! Call ahead to hear daily specials the rotation of freshly made soups. When the U.S. locked down with virus fears, Johnel's regrouped, offering carry outs only at first, then re opening in stages per Indiana mandates. Rather than locking the doors, they kept the lights on, the stoves hot, many employees working, which I can respect. To those of you who choose to leave snarky reviews, take your entitled, uber critical self, plus a wad of cash from your trust fund, to a Ritz Hotel where you MIGHT find satisfaction. (Remember: Sometimes you're only getting back the same attitude that you're dishing out. Leave the safely spaced seating at Johnel's for the rest of us to enjoy the value priced fare warm smiles that we always find there! 11 22 23 update: I find great pleasure in little things. As such, I need to declare that Johnel's uses the finest produce that I've seen anywhere! Try the Chicken Salad Plate to experience the most glorious red tomatoes that one can find all year round, in addition to 4 other types of produce.

Been here twice in a month and wrong order was made vy kitchen staff!

Well i don't really come here much me and my lady. only a few times, but this las visit for lunch what i ordered was not really what i expected. They had this sirloin steak with gravy and mushrooms dish. And before i ordered i asked the waitress if they use fresh mushrooms in this dish and she sai yes of course. So i went for it and i also told her please be easy on the gravy don't want it soaked in gravy. Well that didn't happen it came swimming in gray so i sent it back to have some gravy removed and then i noticed that the mushroom were not fresh at all they were from a jar or can who knows. I'm a fresh mushrooms fan so. There's my las experience. Not sure if I'll try again.

Not the best, the Strip steaks a little dry but otherwise the foods good. Atmospheres a bit out of date and bland but the people seem kind. The server is great and has that quick action service so she could help other tables but she is on it. Always circling around to ensure we have what we needed.
