This past weekend was my first sit down hibachi experience since before COVID, and we had a great chef and waitress. It wasn’t busy at all, but we had no issues whatsoever. Give them a try at least once!
Special dinners with family. We always do hibachi and appreciate that the dishes can be made without egg. That said, the food has always been good, portion size is quite large ... we typically have lunch for the next day.
Tokyo Diner has been around for a long time, and it shows. Air was stale and the decors were dated. Some of the seat cushions desperately needed repair. But it's moot because we ordered to go due to Omicron. We had looked at the menu online beforehand before deciding to go for it. However, we noticed the prices on the printed menu in the restaurant were 10-20% higher than online. For example, Hibachi Salmon lunch was $9.95 online, but it's $12.95 on premise. It's odd because if anything it should be the other way around due to surcharges if handled by a third party. Anyway, that was a bit puzzling. We didn't contest. We ordered hibachi salmon and 3 rolls. Salmon was on par though on the dry side; however, we were disappointed with the rice. It's pretty much just soy sauce and sugar; no egg, onion, etc. For the rolls, we had salmon avocado, eel cucumber, and white fish avocado. As usual, salmon was the best. I wouldn't recommend white fish as it was dry and tasteless. That said, 3 rolls for $13.95 as a lunch special was not a bad deal.Overall, I don't feel compelled to come here other than for the sushi rolls, unless they do some upkeeping of the interiors or maybe to try out their dine-in hibachi experience once the pandemic is over.
My husband went once and loved it wanted to go back.. the second experience not so good ? we got hibachi and it tasted amazing till he pulled a hair from his mouth with chicken attached the hair was cooked into the chicken. We paid and showed them the hair and they refused to admit it was there fault. Will not go
Worst sushi I have ever eaten. TNT roll was to have a crisp coating, then deep fried. It appeared to have absolutely no coating and was slimy on the outside. House special roll was mushy. Chivken on a stick dry.
