The Open Jar - Hartlepool

I would not recommend purchasing tickets for the Open Jar event at this restaurant and providing them with your phone number. They continuously send spam notifications for next year's event with no option to unsubscribe. The website only serves promotional purposes and does not provide any information on how to stop the unwanted notifications.

A wonderful day was made even better by a delicious meal. The staff was very helpful, and the restaurant was a comfortable place to chat and relax, even with a young baby in tow.

Having read reviews on the open jar, thought id try as most where negative, but I’m always willing to give benefit of doubt, how ever total disappointment from the off, met with family as myself and sister arrived 40 mins later, my other 2 family members where in process of finishing their meals, they had left most of it and said by NO means order food, so we where saved by the bullet, whilst there we noticed food arriving out and being sent back this happened at least 3 times so that’s another story, I did notice though young female barmaid eating leftovers from customers plates from behind the bar area, which in all fairness is not easy on the eye, there was no managerial staff to be seen so the the place was left to be run by teenagers, not professional at all, Also we all noticed too, how long one elderly couple waited for their food to arrive well in excess of 1 hour, only for them to return what they’d ordered, beggars belief, And if your a smoker there’s outside seating but no ashtrays in sight even the the water bowl for the dog was void of water! Now today iv been informed my brother whose recovering from cancer is very poorly, diarrhoea is an understatement, so now those reviews I read are absolutely bang on Eat at own Risk! The open jar come on guys get your acts together plz The dirty jar is all that springs to mind .. marks out if 10 zero

Had a very disappointing early evening tea here was looking forward to going as heard good reports had parmo which had the most awful bechamel on it was all congealed and tasteless the whole thing was covered in melted cheese (far too much) the few chips were overcooked the meal was not served hot or on a hot plate and trying to get the attention of the staff who are behind the bar talking was a no no ! Waited far too long and no managerial staff to be seen.
