Food The food is fantastic; the flavors of every dish are perfectly balanced, the portions are reasonable, and the presentation is...well you can see from the photos. If you can, aim for a Friday night because they have a special night menu. We ordered Korean Fried Chicken from it and it was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. They gave us a complimentary chocolate souffle because we were celebrating my husband 's birthday, which he liked a lot. They even brought it with a lit candle. Extra gratitude to the gentleman who brought it out because the flame kept getting blown out by the wind and he lit it again and again. I ended up getting a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert (I didn 't make my husband share his). It was a little pricey at $14 for one small scoop, but it was the best vanilla ice cream I 've ever had. Atmosphere Our view was beautiful. There were several times we sat in silence just taking in the sunset and the sounds of the waves gently crashing into the shore. Towards the end of the night, we ended up having some children sat right next to us. They were pretty well-mannered until the youngest one got fussy and would randomly wail. The parents were good about acknowledging this and would try and distract the child, but it was still disruptive nonetheless. This did not affect the review or rating. Service I wish the service was better. We came as soon as the restaurant opened, so it wasn 't busy yet. We were greeted by our server within a reasonable amount of time, but empty dishes were piled up on our table after the appetizers were finished and it took an extremely long time to receive our entrees: a filet (medium temp) and spicy crab noodles. Final thoughts We ordered A LOT of food, two cocktails, a carafe of sake, and a dessert; our bill ended up being $350. Our mediocre service and disrupted ambience may or may not be something you experience if you visit this restaurant, so still take the time to visit because the food is a must have try.
My wife and I celebrated dinner here after our sunset wedding. The service was exceptional. We were provided a romantic seat with a beach front view. I ordered the kona coffee crusted maui venison and she had the koji cured and smoked puna chicken. The venison was perfectly prepared, but I think the chicken was unbeatable. We also had a complimentary pineapple rum souffle which was also wonderful. The service was professional and prompt. Definitely a must to experience.
The most luxurious restaurant you can go on this island everything was great
My family and I had an AMAZING time. Not only was the view breath taking but the service and for was a whole other story. We had an amazing waiter who has amazing knowledge of the menu and helped to the smallest detail on what you were going to like to eat and to drink. The beach knees was
Ulu has amazing food but the service is particularly warm and inviting. We love starting our days here and taking in the oceanfront views. One of the highlights of any stay at the resort is seeing Maggie who has been there since the resort opened over 26 years ago. She always remembers us and is an awesome ambassador or the four seasons.
