Fun, dog friendly (they keep walking to the back pavilion), with amazing food.
This is no longer the original Barndiva but the more casual “Studio” version of their previous restaurant. Dishes were still all pretty good, but if you are looking for the Michelin experience of previous years, this is not it.
For a Michelin star restaurant I was very disappointed. The food was nothing out of this world and the atmosphere was cute but we were sitting on standard folding chairs. The best thing we had was the crispy chicken. I wouldn't go back.
The atmosphere at Barndiva was lovely. It was unique and eclectic and the restaurant had good energy- noisy but so loud you can't have a conversation. The first course was great. We all ordered something different and everything was tasty. My son and I both ordered steak frites- medium rare, and both steaks came out medium . Our waiter was friendly until we didn't look over joyed with receiving overdone steak. After that he got a little short and testy, and was clearly ready for us to leave. We didn't complain or send anything back, but the atmosphere clearly changed. Food was fine, but far from fabulous. For a $500 dinner, and at a restaurant with a Michelin star, we were hoping for better than fine. Glad we got to experience an acclaimed restaurant, but not good enough for a return visit.
