We were given a lovely table with flowers a candle bubbles after we were seated. The food was stunning we...couldn't finish it, so took the little cakes home for later. We recommend this very highly, and you have to book in advance.
We met with friends who had been staying in Daylesford were heading off home afterwards. We were greeted warmly, our vaccination certificates were checked, all staff were masked, and we felt very safe. Our table was distanced from others we were able to...catch up with our friends over very yummy lunches. The menu is small, but everything on it is recommended there is a homemade pie of the day, along with warming soup, substantial meals brunch offerings. We finished with scones, jam cream a cherry ripe slice.
I had been to Daylesford a few times recently, but I took a call from my Uncle recently suggesting we have lunch there...as the convent was a place that I wanted to see but had not made it to... I figured I would look it...up to see if they had a cafe! And they do... with an ironic name. You wander up a garden path from the carpark to get here through a formal garden... it's very picturesque. You are greeted by a beautiful old building, when you go through the front doors there is an area you wait to be seated. During Covid times the area to wait seems a little bit tight.. but it didn't take long to seat us. It's a stunning place... vibrant colours, oodles of light, artwork adorning the walls. The ambience here is truly amazing... it's the perfect place to meet for lunch. We were handed menus. Service was amazing. My Uncle and I both chose the French Toast with Bacon Canadian maple syrup... which made me laugh. After repeated visits to the USA and Canada... I have a huge liking for bacon with maple syrup...but it didn't sound like something he would like. And it wasn't... AND he is a diabetic... what WAS he thinking?!!? I enjoyed my meal and the black tea with it. My Uncle had his usual mocha. We both agreed that this is a delightful place to have lunch or brunch. It was my turn to pay He picked up the tab months ago in Avoca- we like to catch up regularly) . I will say with the surcharge that the cost was quite high for a lunch- about $65. Although if you couple this with the complete experience... it's a win.
What an amazing experience, Tina and her staff were exceptional and all work very well together, you can tell they love what they are doing. We were a large group enjoying a very well thought out High Tea, they catered very well for all of...our dietary requirements and explained everything that was on the platters/stands. Every request was met plus more. And yes, I would have to say they do make the best scones.
