Wooden Barrel Restaurant - Hermanus

If you want a good quality food at a reasonable price with a stunning sea view, this is the place to go. I had the Calamari packaging and it was delicious. We had a great view with a good atmosphere. The menu was full of different types of seafood and some interesting desserts including Swiss cheesecake. The menu was a bit hard to read because of its writing and it was a bit too hard with a pirate theme. The waiter Givemore was excellent and helped us with everything and told us that the food would take a while because they make everything fresh.

The vegan burger was delicious and the toppings only complicated the taste. At first glance it looked a little small, but it ended up the perfect portion size. However, the texture of the chips was somewhat “rubber-y” and could have been cooked for longer. The atmosphere and the view of the sea and the mountain also added to the overall pleasant experience. Had some lovely breakfast options at this pitstop while out and about at Hermanus Market. There was something for the vegan (with avos), something for the sweet-tooth (with pancakes) and something for the carnivores (with beef/pork sausage). Lovely smoothies good coffee was our preferred choice of beverage and the stunning views made this a top breakfast spot.

It was raining during our visit and I brought my dog with, they offered seats inside and outside. So I assume it’s pet friendly. The waiter was kind enough to bring a water bowl for the pets. Eisbein was perfect. They serve generous amounts of side dish foods. Oysters was sub par and wouldn’t recommend as they were quite small. I’d visit again to try other dishes.
