Highbury Hotel Bistro

Thought it may be a good time to try the Highbury Hotel, with some shop a dock $5 meals, well as we arrived, 19h. it was about 20 other people eating. Somehow the staff were stressed, as I ordered the food and drinks, it was friendly service. Half the food came out, wrong Parmy given and another two meals took further 15 minutes to arrive. Thought we will get some vegies from salad/ veg bar, nothing left, was told more was coming, well, way after our meals were finished. Disappointing.Would give it another go, later in time.

Steak night Tuesday. Beautiful good sized rump cooked to perfection for $12. Beef pie reported as delicious. Free salad bar and reasonably priced drinks. 2 meals...2 drinks for a total of $42. Bargain. And if you have rug rats they eat free on Tuesday as well.

The monthly special was two for one so we had a schnitzel and a scotch fillet steak for $29 - good value. The salad and veg bar is good - nice choice in vegetables. The schnitzel was as it should be - juicy and well seasoned. My steak - cooked medium - was very tender and cooked perfectly. I would go back and have it again. Also a good wine selection.

Rang on the off chance there was a table (for 5). They were able to fit us in even though we only rang a half hour before out booking time.Place was packed but staff were friendly and efficient.Orders took time to arrive but everything was delicious. Huge portions.Salad/veg bar good and kept our kids fed (11, 13 and 16 years old) until food arrived.We will go back!

Pleasant venue for lunch with friends. There was a children's party in one section but we were not disturbed. Decor a little dated but food really good. I had chicken Caesar salad which was really tasty and plenty of chicken. Others in our party had the beef pie and chicken snitzels. All diners were happy and very full. I left some of mine to leave room for tiramisu dessert which was delightful. My companions had no room for dessert. Staff very happy, courteous and helpful. Will most definitely go again for lunch.
