Chinese Tasty BBQ Restaurant - Hobart

Had roast duck and couple dishes for dinner with family, food is good but yes service is so so. But it is a lot cheaper and better than those Hobart city central chinese restaurant

We were disappointed by our visit to Chinese Tasty BBQ Restaurant. We were seated right next to the kitchen door, our table was dirty and we were provided with insufficient cutlery (two bowls and sets of cutlery for four people). The food was expensive and not overly fabulous. We did not feel that we received value for money.

Our members (Gourmet roast duck appreciation Society) have searched high and low in restaurants in Hong Kong, Beijing, Melbourne Sydney etc to find the perfect roast duck and at last the best of the very best is to be had at the Chinese Tasty BBQ Restaurant. Our party usually numbers between 14 and 20 and on each occasion the roast duck (s) have been characterised by full frontal flavour, luxuriating in flavoursome juices and accompanied by a compendium of olfactory delights. Now the menu is large enough to confuse unsophisticated palates, but with a modicum of knowledge and care each outing can be, as in our case, always was an unforgettable feast. Think of silky tofu, green beans with pork mince, eggplant, seasonal mixed vegetables, crispy roast pork, salted chicken and a variety of seafood dishes. True the service does require one to engage in modicum of self service and the ambiance may require a leap of the imagination. But all is forgotten and forgiven when the food arrives and the process of devouring begins.

On a wet Sunday night it was the only place open in Sandy Bay near of motel. Right from the start we should have realised the meal was not going to be good. The staff speak little English, it took them several minutes to decide if they had a spare table and then even longer to bring menus. After what seemed an eternity they finally took our orders. Other table who had arrived after we did received their meal before ours arrived. When our meals finally arrived it was very poorly presented, no rice and the prawn crackers were stale. In summary worst food and service we have ever had.

Came here the other day for lunch. Place was severely understaffed. It looked like only one waitress was handling all the orders of the entire restaurant! We had to wait a long time before she was free enough to take our orders. We don't required a high standard services but at least we hope that the food is good. Unfortunate, nothing good can be said about the food either. We ordered fried rice however it had the consistency of glue and had no taste. The roast duck was oily and the lemon chicken was way too hard to chew. The food was definitely not worth it for the price. Disappointed.
