The service staff was like a flawless army for a lunch group of around 200 from Brilliance of the Seas. The Irish veg soup was perfect. The stuffed chicken breast was so moist and delish. Also had two helpings of Murphy Stout with a Jamison on the side. Great job.
We stayed at this hotel when traveling around Ireland. It is nicely modernized and the rooms are quite large. As we were traveling from the US we definitely appreciated the nice size of the rooms and also that there were a few US electrical plugs in the room. I was actually able to use my hair dryer!! The one downside is that the lay out can be a bit confusing. When you are first arriving there are two entrances (right and left). We used the one on the left initially since you drive on the left hand side of the road here in Ireland. That entrance does not lead you to the front of the hotel. You should go in the right hand side entrance which is actually a two way street. Overall a great experience though!
Ok, so this is going to be brutal...take a seat and enjoy some laughs. I actually told my wife I was excited to do this Yelp Review to save my co-Yelpers. We just arrived to this hotel for a 4 day stay, from the Double Tree (Hilton owned) in Dublin which was an GREAT Hotel, to the Rochestown Hotel that somehow has nearly 4 stars from hotels.com . I cant believe it has 4 stars. We arrived to the hotel that looks decent up front. We went into the VERY SMALL ROOM which even had mirrors on the side of the interior to help it look bigger (didnt help). I observed stains on the wall as if someone threw coffee...or maybe I should guess Guinness on the wall. I ignored it and didnt mention it to my wife. We could barely fit our three bags of luggage in the room. Our luggage took over the chair, desk and floor area. My wife showers and starts yelling The shower is flooding! I go in there and water is overflowing over the side because the shower is not draining. I call in and they move us to a different room without apologizing or anything. I had completely unpacked us. We move to another room after some effort and the sink in the other room then doesnt drain well. Basically have to take breaks running the water so it can drain. The carpet in the room was stained with white gunk (pointed out by my wife who doesn 't notice much). By the way there was NO IRON, NO FRIDGE, DIRTY CUPS and the electrical outlet for the coffee machine was broken (Moved the coffee maker to the desk on top of the luggage). The air conditioning/heater in my first room DID NOT WORK, but the other room it did fortunately. Make-up mirror in first room was not there (Broken off) and was not broken in the second room. Second room toilet paper holder was falling off. I think if I pushed down on the toilet paper holder a little it would have snapped off. The place has old carpet throughout and when I took a step down from a hallway step there was lifted carpet...which made you feel there was an air bubble under it. It was quite embarrassing to bring someone there....fortunately my wife is stuck with me and not picky lol. It seriously became comical towards the end that a hotel would let itself go so bad. Carpet is not that expensive and that carpet has to be over 15 years old at minimum. So we make the best of it we can since I paid on hotels.com and a refund is a nightmare during this XMAS time. So we ask the Manager if anything was open on XMAS Eve to eat, as their food had very limited Vegitarian options for my wife. She said You need to eat here...nothing is open...not one thing in Ireland on christmas eve or christmas will be open. I was shocked and went out anyhow, finding THE ENTIRE DOUGLASS DOWNTOWN AREA was open. I told the waitress of the restaurant we went to and the convenience store guy what the Hotel clerk (I think manager) said. They both laughed and said it was something they do so unknown guests pay the high prices xmas eve buffett. OVERALL: PLACE IS HORRIBLE. If I would have redone it...I would have went to the Cork City Centre area and stayed there. Close to everything and the Glow Festival. PLEASE DONT STAY HERE...I would have rather tried a hostel. NO JOKE...Email me with any questions as I will give you all you want to hear.
