Contribuisci feedbackI can't get the Gumbo here with Shrimp. Everything else looks great, but it's just too good to resist. Their breads are also excellent. Today's onion Focaccia bread was a beautiful pairing. Has a little spice, but I want to add a little extra kick to my (educated). The lady in the front is always friendly and helpful, and the cook is always fast efficient with his craft.
Great gumbo! I eat here at least once a week. The chef and I have have the same taste in music, which makes it even better.
There’s a small mom and pop place in Chinatown that makes some Cajun dishes the post said. It sounded interesting especially since I’ve not been out since the pandemic hit island. Turns out it isn’t just authentic Cajun cuisine several other dishes look enticing. The jambalaya is perfection. Great combination of meats, rice, vegetables balanced just the right amount of spices. Then there was this incredible bread that the chef makes himself. The decor is itself a work of art. There is a Salvador Dali piece which is in alignment here. One can easily imagine other surrealists meeting here to enjoy the great food and conversation. Myself, I will definitely be going back there and taking friends to share the incredible experience.
See the 1 star reviews? Notice how most of them are from a 1 year period? How none of them have pictures or are close to details? Yep, they are FAKE reviews of the cancelled amount of culture. Ignore them. Only happens to catch their unique advertising on TV and it piqued my interest enough to see what this place was. Well, the reviews looked great, so decided to have an attempt. This place is located on Pauahi Street, right on Fort Street Mall. But be sure you don't miss it because Koch Robert serves you some great food. I will post pictures that I have taken from his menu so it is up to date February 2020. We tried his shrimp touff with potatoes and some chicken gumbo. We also have to try some bread they gave us in the house. My dish was a mean chicken gum. The broth of the plate was very rich and the spices stood on the bottom perhaps a 3 out of 10. The chicken here was also so tender with beautiful sausage pieces. Overall, this dish was a solid 7 out of 10 for me and the best elastic on the island. There are 8, 10 or 12 dollars available. I went for $10 and it was enough to fill me. My friend had the garnetouffee with potatoes. You can also get it with rice. That was our first time Etouffe and Wow! It was so good! This cream sauce was so deep in taste and mix that in with the oh so delicate shrimp and garlic mash and you have an OMG moment. This court was 10 out of 10 for us. Now granted, never tried etouffee before, but it's hard to imagine much better than that. Last thing we tried was a Focaccia bread that they were nice enough to let us try on the house. The bread was made in-house and filled with tomato paste. It was cold and delicious! This is usually $2 from their menu, although I'm not sure that the image I have provided is their normal portion size as it was free. The place itself is very compact with only a few tables that are common seating. I enjoyed the design of the room, as it is decorated with all kinds of things. Also the recovered wood that decorates the walls is interesting to consider. Finally, we met Koch Robert and his beautiful wife, who treated the orders. What can I say differently than they are both so nice. If you're in town and you're in the area, you should be over. My only regret is not finding this place much earlier!
I had a SOFRITTO friend all week, who planned my lunch here deliberately so that my appetite could finally be eaten! I came with a group of three that meant that I could taste some new dishes. The prices are good for the quality of food and the eclectic flair of an artist and cook who fills the dining room with the smell of smokers and his love for Grateful Dead. The wife of the cook leads the counter and they serve every dish as it comes from the kitchen. Bovine mushroom Stroganoff on macaroni: large slices of meat cooked in a mushroom sauce served on a bed macaroni. Perfect if you have great appetite and very fill. $16) Creole gumbo: Simply the winner among today's dishes because of the amazing taste. I don't know what he's in the sauce, but it's magical! $12) Baked ziti with vegetables: Although I really enjoyed this dish, but after trying the rubber bears, everything that follows will have a hard time shining. $12) Russian salad: A variety of grilled and baked vegetables that is perfect for sharing among friends. I order this every time I come here! $10) Combo Bread: I don't think a visit to SOFFRITO is completed without ordering her freshly baked bread. I don't care if Carbs makes me fat. This bread is worth the extra cardio. $
