Punta Cana Caribbean - Houston

OMG! Excellent flavor! I really enjoyed the ropa vieja and my cake. Absolutely delicious. If you want to experience Caribbean taste, this is the place to go.

The Cuban sandwich was the best choice with Yucca Fries, Maduro Plantains, side salad and some delicious bomb red beans and rice. The cheese empanadas were also a hit when I sneak 6 for the road..lol Cosy little place that supports the food flicker of Latin America. PUERTO RICAN DOMINICAN CUBAN...

Not what I expected in Houston! The food was exquisite! We visited as a family of five, including children, and the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and informative. Our waiter, Esteban, was a real gem! The cuisine is traditional Caribbean, expertly refined in the kitchen at Punta Cana. I enjoyed the pernil, a slowly roasted pork shoulder that’s also known as pulled pork or carnitas in other regions. It was one of the best, most flavorful dishes I've ever had. The accompanying dishes were equally delightful and delicious. The restaurant seems to be named after Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, and if so, it beautifully brings a touch of Santo Domingo's vibrant beach culture to Houston. A humble restaurant with exquisite food and perfect service!

I opted for the pernil, which is shredded pig shoulder. It came with a small cup of sauce on the side that complemented the meat nicely. Along with it, there was a small salad made of shredded purple cabbage and dressing. It was all very good! Instead of beans and rice, I chose mofongo. Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish primarily made with plantains. The plantains are typically green, cut into pieces, and either roasted or cooked, then mashed with salt, garlic, broth, and olive oil in a wooden pilón. All three employees who served us were wonderful as well. We will definitely be returning!

This was my first time trying Dominican food and I was very impressed on how flavorful the food was at Punta Cana. The place was busy throughout our lunch which I think it speaks good of a restaurant. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The Ceviche was so refreshing and the chicharrón was crunchy and tasty. Definitely will be stopping by again when in the neighborhood. Also, they have plenty of parking which is something I?m always looking for.
