A Lo Mero Mero - Huacho

A Lo Mero Mero offers one of best traditional lunches in Loja, with three courses including a fresh fruit drink, at $3.25. It has a charming and relaxed atmosphere, with photos of Cantinflas and big Mexican sombreros hanging on the brightly colored walls. It's family owned, with polite and efficient service. They offer delicious soups which Loja is famous for, like repe blanco green plantain with a slice of avocado swimming on top, or sopa de acelgas con papas swiss chard and potato soup. The fresh juices made with exotic fruits like maracuya and babaco are marvelous. Two choices are offered for the second course, invariably prepared with flair. Dessert is made in house the flan and tiramisu are my favorites. In the middle of the table there's always a dish of ají, the hot pepper salsa made from tree tomato, hot peppers, cilantro, onions, lime and this one is one of the tastiest and hottest in town.
