Only neg was some of other customers (regulars, I think) a little too vulgar and loud for my taste. Not quite bar atmosphere, but getting there.
Our appetizer was unimpressive; four onion rings and five mushrooms hardly justify the price. The main courses were equally disappointing, with warm lettuce and tomatoes, undercooked fries that were cold and soggy, and overall just unappetizing. When we brought our concerns to the waitress, who seemed indifferent to our complaints, she told us she had to charge us because we had ordered them and eaten part of the meals. She didn’t seem to care at all. We decided to try dessert since we were still hungry, but that was a mistake. The chocolate pie tasted like chocolate chapstick, and the bread pudding was smothered in a strange applesauce. When we asked the waitress about the dishes, she replied, "I don’t know, it’s homemade." To top it all off, she mischarged us and expected a tip above the automatic 18% that was already added. I would never recommend this place!
In the small town of Ida, this is the closest option available for a sit-down dinner. Unless you consider the Bluestreak, I genuinely enjoy dining here. For the locals of Ida, it has a warm and homey atmosphere.
Our appetizer was decent—four onion rings and five mushrooms—but it was what we expected for the price. Unfortunately, our meals were disappointing. The salad was warm and soggy, the tomatoes were unimpressive, and the fries were undercooked, cold, and not crispy at all. Overall, it was disgusting. When we mentioned our concerns to the waitress, who seemed indifferent, she just shrugged and told us it was our fault for ordering it and for not eating more. Seeing that we were still hungry, we decided to try dessert. Big mistake! The chocolate cake tasted like chocolate-flavored lip balm, and the bread pudding was drenched in an unappetizing apple sauce. When we asked the waitress about the desserts, she said she didn't know; apparently, they were homemade. To top it off, she charged us an automatic 18% gratuity without asking. Overall, I would never recommend this place!
I have to disagree with Lisa and Carl. This place is fantastic! It's more of a diner than a traditional restaurant, so don't expect a fine dining experience. After all, it's called the Hayloft—need I say more?
