The Leather Bottle - Ingatestone

Mixed thoughts from the 4 of us. One has calves liver and enjoyed it, two had prawn linguine and said it was ok, I had the burger and fries and left 95% of it. The burger was over cooked and very bland, the cheese was barely there and the bacon tasted plasticky. I didn’t want to complain was was enjoying the company but the waitress happily took the plate away without asking if everything was ok and to me that isn’t right. Lovely place otherwise just won’t be returning.

The starters were okay but I have had better prawn cocktails. I felt rushed as they brought out the mains too quickly, literally just 7 minutes after the starters. Desserts and staff were excellent and I cannot fault them.

I was not disappointed once again. The food and service were both excellent. I brought some new friends with me who absolutely loved it. We even had enough food left over for a doggy bag for their pets.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. However, the pub itself was quite noisy. Our table for two was placed between tables of four and six; I would have preferred to be in a quiet corner. The total cost for three courses, drinks, wine, and coffee was £120, which I found to be very reasonable. I also loved the village feel of the restaurant.
