This play is a sole act by Dame Maureen Lipman. It chronicles the life of an Ukrainian Jew over WW2 and following years during her travels to Germany, Israel and USA. It is a moving account and although it is likely a story almost certainly it does represent real life experiences of millions. It provides insight into aspects of past and modern jewish communities and is powerful. The theatre itself is intimate and comfortable. Certainly in the stalls you fell as if you are on the stage. There is a bar and pizzas are available although there are plenty of other places to eat nearby. I had not been to the Park Theatre before but will certainly return.
I don't eat here any more although I visited the theatre fequently. The food is not very good and the atmosphere not conducive to eating more than an emergency sandwich.
Came here for a theatre show with some friends. The place had a really nice atmosphere and the cafe looked like it did some excellent food... although we didn’t eat. There is a downstairs and upstairs bar which both got really busy, so make sure you arrive in plenty of time. The actual theatre was small but had an excellent view from all seats. Overall recommended.
We had two pizzas, margherita and roasted veggie. Both tasty. Not sophisticated (tomato base seems like mostly tinned tomato puree). But an excellent pre theatre meal. BUT, the service was stretched to the limit obviously 6.30 7.00pm is always going to be peak time (after parking restrictions lifted and enough time to eat before performance). We ordered at 6.35 and got our first pizza at 7.00; the second one ten minutes later. So we had to rush which was a shame.
