Despite the fact that our children are well-behaved and do not run around, the owner refused to serve us. Although we always make sure to clean up after our children, we were still turned away. We will not be returning to this restaurant again.
I hesitated to share this review because I don't want too many people to discover one of my favorite places. The Gate is hidden away in Archway Close and offers a variety of vegetarian options alongside some good meat options. Fiona always has a delicious soup on offer. I recently tried the vegetarian chili which was excellent and came with a selection of salads. They also have a tempting selection of homemade cakes for dessert. The atmosphere in the main dining area is friendly and relaxed, and there is a lovely outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice.
I visited The Gate for lunch after hearing that Fiona was back in charge. The food was fresh, homemade, and delicious, and offered great value for the quality. Don't forget to save room for their fabulous cakes, even if you're already full!
Wonderful selection of fresh, veggie food and delicious, calorific cakes. Relaxed atmosphere (service can be a little slow) but just what my friend and I were looking for time to chat and lovely food
This place must be the best vegetarian restaurant I've ever been to. We had a sharing mezze to start, with half a dozen light yet substantial creations and wonderful flavours. Highly recommended! Mains were not quite as impressive visually, but simple ingredients (I had a potato and carrot creation) were perfectly prepared. Four of us, two courses and a bottle of wine came to £130 not cheap, but still great value.
