Demarco's - Itasca

This is a must try. I've been going to this place for over 30 years and it just keeps getting better. It's very authentic Italian food, reasonable prices with solid wine selection and great specials. I'm from NY and have had Italian food made by Nonnas in their home kitchen, and DeMarcos reminded me of that. Simple food done extremely well makes for a fantastic meal. Greeted with a smile, seated immediately and, because they had a large group coming in, they moved our table so we wouldn't get crowded. Small touch but very nice. Mario, our server, was smiling and happy and is an asset to the place. Made us feel like family. We shared the sausage and vongole al forno (baked clams) appetizer. Outstanding. The sausage was light and the sauce amazing. The clams were buttery and briny and Yum. I had Veal Parmigiano, and Mom had Chicken Francese. Both were to die for. Veal was tender, great sauce, and gooey mozzarella. Moms chicken was lemony and fork tender. Tiramisu for me, lemon sorbet for Mom and an espresso to top it off. It was ok. Service was friendly. Food was good, but overpriced. Some standard Italian options missing. Not a very extensive bar. Probably won 't be back due to location, nothing remarkable and high prices. Wouldn 't advise someone to not go though since nothing was bad.

First time ate at the bar. I had steamed clams in red sauce was among the best I have ever had the bread with a touch of garlic in the butter was excellent!
