I am very grateful if they are in the mood for good eating and a bright hearty atmosphere.
Hands down the best place to eat in the city. the staff were very friendly especially mirabai was amazingly attentive and fantastic great. she should get a raise in salary. In portions are too small, but that is what they get at gourmet sites anyway. I tried hard fish, ink fish, otopus, salmon and cheesecake and really loved all food. even their drinks were great. I'd go back to town if I were in town.
We went to Agava for an early dinner to celebrate our son’s birthday. This was our 5th or 6th visit. The waitress directed all her attention to my husband, acting as if I wasn’t there. The chips were cold and flavorless. The usually perfectly prepared Brussels sprouts were soggy and overly sweetened. When the entrees were delivered by another server, I was brought a completely different dish than I ordered. Thirty minutes later, after my family had finished eating, my order arrived , delivered by another person not our server. At no time did she come by, acknowledge the error, maybe apologize. Nothing. Nada. My dish was a poor rendition of a popular meal that should’ve been easy to get right. My husband and sons ordered fajitas that were skinny portions with nothing special about them except the $4 charge for kidney beans and rice. My son asked for extra tortillas and they slapped another $4 to the tab for dried out, cold tortillas. When I asked the waitress about it, she said she only speaks to one member of a party and that was my husband. I suggested she speak to the women also and she started to cry. Why did they ask if it was a special occasion or birthday then not even mention it? Agava once was a very special restaurant with a creative albeit pricey menu of adventurous cooking. No more. The food quality has gradually declined to the point it’s not worthy of its reputation. $150 for a meal riddled with mistakes and missteps is a poor value. There’s better food to be had at a much better value with better service in Ithaca.
Server AWOL, all night slow w/menu. slow with drinks. never brought app or entree. very slow in checking on food (which was not good). slow with check. Alfredo, did not seem to have any flavor (server missing please bring parmesan) Pork Chop flavorless slab of meat No chips Flatbread App was pretty good (LA Woman) Generally like this place, but not this dinner.
