My sister and I ordered the pan fried Schellfisch, which was advertised as fresh, but we were both disappointed as it saw and tasted like frozen. And we had eaten a lot of fish in Nova Scotia. My niece also said her German sausages... don't taste other than breakfast sausages that you can get in the grocery store. She was also disappointed. Although the view was great, so the two stars, that makes three people out of six who felt betrayed as food. The lentil soup was delicious.
Really wonderful inn the owner was so warm and friendly, the room had a beautiful view and was clean and comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious, the Black Forest cake is particularly good. The scenery is beautiful as well....Definitely worth visiting.
Salmon River has a full menu, but we opted for their German specialties as we are fans of German food schnitzel, spaetzle, etc. Portions were good sized and tasty. The German beer served in large pottery steins was good. The sunset over the river...was absolutely spectacular ad we enjoyed the live music.
We stayed here on our way to Cape Breton, this was a perfect place to stop and we easily could have stayed longer. The restaurant was fantastic, the complimentary breakfast was excellent. Beautiful location, great service, clean and very comfortable!
