Contribuisci feedbackThe service was mediocre, provided by teenage girls who were probably doing their best but lacked essential customer service skills and proper presentation. I noticed one waitress carrying a drink in her right hand with a Monetta wafer resting on top of the cream. Unfortunately, I saw her use her left hand to push her phone back into her pants pocket. As she did this, the wafer brushed against her t-shirt, and she tapped it back into place with the same fingers that had just been handling her phone. This made me wonder about the cleanliness of her hands before she touched the wafer, and I felt bad for the customer who might end up eating it. Hand hygiene and proper food handling are crucial, alongside the presentation of staff. It would be beneficial for the restaurant to provide uniforms, such as t-shirts or aprons, to give a more professional appearance. Personal phones should not be visible during service hours! The young staff seemed unhappy, which I can't entirely blame them for; it reflects the management's apparent disinterest in properly training them and respecting both their employees and customers. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

XS Espresso Jesmond is disappointingly overpriced and lacks cleanliness. The condition of the restaurant floor, particularly under the tables, is unacceptable, with old food debris scattered around, including bits of biscuit and bread mixed with dirt. The tabletops also desperately need a thorough cleaning. I noticed the built-in bench seats against the wall were grimy, possibly due to mold or dirty mop water splattered on them. Overall, the restaurant could greatly benefit from a deep clean; the floor tiles and the grout between them are filthy, raising concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen as well. The menus need attention too, as the plastic coverings appear worn and dirty. XS Jesmond, rather than using old, ineffective mops, it would be wise to invest in new cleaning supplies and put some effort into scrubbing the floors, tabletops, and seating. There were plenty of customers, so surely there’s room in the budget for better cleaning products. We visited only to meet family, and the sole highlight was a friendly waitress, earning you one star.
They actually took 45 min to make my order. They don’t give importance to the person who order for pick up. They keep you on waiting for soo long. My partner and I arrived around 8pm for a quick dinner and ordered the steak sandwich and buffalo wings with iced coffees and some chips. The ice coffees and chips were fine but the sandwich and the wings were disgusting. The sandwich tasted stale and the steak tasted off. The wings were an unsettling brown colour with patchy breading and a bitter taste (the oil it was fried in was most likely very old). We could hardly finish half our food before we gave up and left.
