Carriages Restaurant - Kalgoorlie

Enjoyed our stay here with a well presented breakfast each morning, buffet style. Unfortunatly did not have the opportunity to dine there in the evening on this visit but it was well patronised each evening by other guests.

I was staying in house here at the Railway and ate here 2/3 nights.Both experiences were excellent with good meals on both nights i dined from this simple menu.One night i had the lamb cutlets that were cooked medium and served on a bed of salad leaves, fetra and watermelon with a mint dressing...this was excellent and very kight and tasty.Next nite i went for the ceasar salad with chicken , this was one of the best i haven eaten with plenty of chicken , home made croutons on cos lettuce with a light ceasar sauce , it was delicious. I was indeed surprised and happy with the standard of meals that were dished up here...thank you.

Myself and 3 friends went to Carriages on a Saturday night after seeing rave reviews on Facebook. The two males both ordered the ribs, my friend ordered the stuffed mushroom and I ordered the pork belly. Both sets of ribs did not fall off the bone as they weren't attached. It seemed as though there was a bone on the plate just for decoration. The sauce was good, but the meet wasn't tender and was chewy. The stuffed mushroom came out crumbed (which wasn't stated on the menu), however was tasty. My pork belly had crackle, which is what pork belly normally lacks elsewhere, however the meat was very dry. The purée was chunky, however it was tasty. I wouldn't be rushing back as a fine dining restaurant. The meals were good, but not what they had been hyped up to be.

My first visit. Went here because I was advised wheelchair access was possible and another guest required this. It appears to be your typical hotel dining room, decor not much, but that should not put you off. Staff exceptionally friendly with great service. Food was exceptional and the steak was about ten dollars cheaper than my usual establishment but just as good. Only gripe (as explained by the manager) is that at lunch times they can't differenciate between startes and mains, so the bruschetta came out with mains. Not a huge deal, but an explanation first would have helped. I will be returning next week with more colleagues for great food in a relaxing environment

Ate here for the 3 nights we were in Kalgoorlie, the quality and presentation of the meals were top notch,one night had the best Lamb rack I have ever tasted, congratulations!!
