Stop at Kempsey for the night and TripAdvisor led us to the RSL and what a treat!! The place was packed because it was the Easter drawing of the member, but the extremely hospitable maitre de found us a table immediately. The drinks were cheap and... the food was so good that I was jealous of the most boring choice of my man of Roast of the day. The portion size could have fed us both and the Gravy was the best I had EVER sorry mum. My Barramundi was cooked for perfection and the chips were crispy and tasty on their own, but immersed in the engraving of my husband, they brought them to another level!! Overall, Kempsian hospitality won over with everyone here welcome and helpful.
It's one of the best bistro food we ate. It was special that they have their own dry aged space and the steak is beautiful and cost-effective. We also had a vegetable dish that was excellent.
Excellent location with views of the river. We arrived shortly before the kitchen closed and they were very welcoming. Our meals arrived quickly and were very generous in size and quality. Roast beef was amazing, no knife needed it was so tender. Flathead was amazingly very... Crunchy battery, chips were great and the salad was an excellent mix with a beautiful dressing. Can't blame this club we found on Saturday afternoon. The staff of the bar were friendly and welcoming. There was no negative when visiting Kempsey RSL. We'll be back.
I ordered the lamb chops (3) and my wife had the lasagna. Both dishes were large in size and a bit pricey for non-members, but I was pleased with the quality and portion size of the food. My lamb chops were cooked perfectly, although I did notice that the person at the next table had left some of their lamb undercooked.
