The only negative side is that there were no other customers in the restaurant at the time we were eating. But, to be true, we didn't miss them... we went around to do photos because of the wonderful surroundings.
Visited here with a deal of afternoon tea and a glass of Prosecco on a weekday and the ambience was pleasant. Spacious restaurant with tables well spaced out. Service was friendly and attentive. We had a selection of sandwiches, hot scones with the cream and jam, macaroons and a sort of Battenberg cakes. We each had a big pot of our chosen tea and a refill was asked for.Apart from the prosecco which was not very chilled and appeared rather flat, we had a very relaxing time.
I took my friend for a three course meal with canapés and glass processco, service was excellent helpful, attentive and friendly. Hotel is elegant and clean and presentable, we had a lovely time.. Definitely go for a treat or celebration you won't be disappointed.
Finally we were able to enjoy the afternoon tea we received as a gift the Christmas before last. I have found that places I loved before COVID have unfortunately been adversely affected with patchy service from new untrained staff or a drop in standards in a misguided attempt to save money. My expectations were not therefore particularly high especially having read some recent reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Pamela provided excellent friendly service and made this a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. We received extra sandwiches upon request. My husband doesn’t drink tea and Pamela happily swapped his drink to Coke and both my tea and his soft drink were replenished. The scones were brought out separately after our sandwiches and served warm. They were the smaller scones perfect for afternoon tea when you have a plate of cakes to follow. Both sandwiches and scones were lovely and fresh. Our cakes were very tasty, particularly the passion fruit slice that was bursting with flavour and our selection included a very rich and satisfying chocolate mousse. This was not the afternoon tea experience that the top hotels supply with constant food and we didn’t leave with boxes of left over cakes but then Claridge’s champagne tea (king of afternoon teas) is £90 per head plus service not £45 (and since our gift voucher was extended from eighteen months ago it was probably cheaper than that). We were however very full when we left. The tea was served in a pleasant bright room and the chairs were very comfortable for a leisurely meal. Finally, I had the Indian breakfast tea and it was delicious. I drunk two pots. All in all we had a very pleasant afternoon and enjoyed our belated Christmas present. Thank you Pamela for looking after as so well.
We were so disappointed by tea at the orangery I went looking for another near where we staying and discovered this place. I didn't read reviews ahead of time just gambled that a hotel like the Bentley would have good food and I was so delighted. The day and time we went the place was virtually empty so we were able to take tea on a comfortable couch table. The place was quiet and they had some jazz playing softly in background. The service was exquisite and the food very tasty. The sandwiches had the perfect bread to ingredient ratio so could taste everything and not be dry. The scones were served warm and the desserts had a lot of variety. I'm sure its tough to compete with places that market themselves as just for tea so maybe this place gets overlooked but I thought it was perfect
